Location: Mindoro, Philippines

Hope Global partners with Scott and Ruth Buchanan, who, along with their three children, live and serve on the island of Mindoro, working among the Mangyan people, a marginalised indigenous group living in remote mountain communities.

This faithful family is deeply committed to church planting, discipleship, and leadership development in one of the most spiritually and economically under-resourced regions in the Philippines. The Mangyan people often face systemic poverty, social exclusion, and a lack of access to the gospel.

Each week, the Buchanans:

• Lead Bible studies with new believers
• Serve in a growing Indigenous church plant
• Disciple individuals and families
• Train pastors and leaders in foundational theology

Their ministry is marked by long-term relational investment, cultural sensitivity, and a deep belief in the transformative power of God’s Word. Lives are being changed. People once burdened by fear and hopelessness are now stepping into leadership, rooted in their identity in Christ and carrying the gospel into their own communities.

Through the support of Hope Global and other partners, this ministry is building not just churches but, Christ-centred communities in some of the hardest-to-reach places.
